Cattleya Alliance Otaara Hwa Yuan Bay 'She Shu'

Otaara Hwa Yuan Bay 'She Shu' is a named clone within the Cattleya alliance, exhibiting characteristics inherited from several genera historically grouped under the Laeliinae subtribe. This hybrid produces large, showy flowers with broad petals and frilled lips, typically in soft to deep pink shades with magenta or fuchsia tones concentrated in the labellum. Flowers are usually borne in clusters on upright stems emerging from mature pseudobulbs. Like many in the Cattleya alliance, it benefits from distinct wet and dry cycles and bright, indirect light.

Care Tips:

• Light: Requires bright, indirect light. Some morning or late afternoon sun is beneficial.
• Water: Water thoroughly when medium is nearly dry. Allow slight drying between waterings.
• Humidity: Prefers 50–70% humidity with good air circulation.
• Media: Medium-grade orchid bark or bark mixes designed for Cattleya-type orchids.
• Temperature: Grows well in intermediate to warm conditions, around 15–28 °C.
• Fertiliser: Apply balanced orchid fertiliser fortnightly during growth. Reduce feeding when dormant.
• Repotting: Repot every 2 years or when medium breaks down, ideally after flowering and before new root growth begins.
